Gary Propper was the first East Coast surfer to have a surfboard model produced in his name. The Gary Propper Noserider Model Surfboard, made by Hobie Surfboards and introduced in 1966, went on to become one of the world’s best-selling models.

Because of the record-breaking sales of his models and his impressive competitive record, he became an East Coast Legend.

“I was shooting at the Surf Heritage Museum in San Clemente today. There was a Hobie Gary Propper Model on display from 1966. The info card said that model was one of the best-selling boards in the world. It also said Gary Propper was the highest paid surfer of his time. Pretty impressive.”

- David Arnold

The Gary Propper Model...
the surfboard designed and ridden by all East Coast surfing champions.

The 1967 East Coast Surfing Championships marked the FIRST and ONLY time
in surfing history that a model surfboard was ridden by the winner of EVERY division.
